    CE 319. Structural Steel Design. 3(3,0). The content of this course consists of an introduction to the design of structural elements found in steel buildings, in particular, the design of steel tension members, beams, columns, beam-columns, and connections. Emphasizes the AISC-LRFD Specifications for steel design, though reference is made to the ASD Specification with comparisons made where appropriate. (Prerequisite: CE 3 I 9).

    CE 415. Fluid Mechanics. 3(3,0). This course teaches fundamental concepts relating to the characteristics of fluids, fluid statics, fluid kinematics and governing principles of fluid motions, and closed conduit and open channel flows. In this course, students develop a clear understanding of the basic physical principles that govern the static and dynamic behavior of fluids with the ability to apply the analytical and mathematical skills needed to describe and predict fluid behavior, and the ability to apply fundamental principles and skills to the engineering solution of some practical fluid systems problems such as flow in pipes and open channels. (Prerequisite: ENGR 313).

    CE 418. Soil Mechanics. 3(3,0). In this course, students will learn the properties of soils, soil classifications, seepage and flow nets, stress distribution; consolidation and settlement, compaction, soil stabilization, shearing strength, rupture theory, and subsurface soil investigation. (Prerequisite: ENGR 213)

    CE 459. Senior Project Proposal. 1(1,0). This course is to enhance the students' chance of successfully completing senior project (CE 460). It is a prerequisite for the senior project (CE 460). This course is designed to afford students planning to take senior project the opportunity to prepare prior to registering for the senior project course. Students will be able to select a topic, do literature review as well as determine the methodology for accomplishing their senior projects. (Prerequisite: Senior Standing).

    CED 509. Counseling Ethics and Legal Issues for School Counselors. 3 (3,0). This course provides an in depth introduction into legal and ethical concerns related to school counseling conduct. As a foundation course, an examination of the Ethical Codes for School Counseling will be explored as to its relevance to school counselors maintaining ethical conduct. Moreover, this course will examine how school counselor ethical conduct affects the academic, career and social-emotional development of counselees.

    CED 510. Introduction to Counseling. 3(3,0). This course is an introduction to the counseling profession which operates in a variety of settings. The course examines the development and history of the counseling profession, basic concepts in counseling, and the role and function of the school counselor and other counseling professionals and the settings in which they work.     CED 511. Child Growth and Development. 3(3,0). A study of the principles of physiological, intellectual, cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of child growth and development. Along with an intensive examination of traditional and contemporary theories of growth and development in these areas, particular emphasis will be placed upon the interrelationships between these variables, their influence on behavior, the modifiable range of development patterns, and implications for guidance and counseling in the elemantary school. Laboratory work involves required of observations of childern in the elementary school setting.(F,S)

    CED 514. Counseling Theories and Techniques. 3(3,0). This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the theoretical backgrounds, tools, and techniques of counseling. It is further designed to lay the foundations for the development of professional behaviors and skills in the use of techniques and strategies necessary for counseling students with various kinds of problems--social, personal, educational, vocational, and recreational.     CED 520. School Counseling Practicum. 3(3,0). This course is an applied course where students master individual and group counseling skills and techniques. Enrollees will learn how to conduct individual counseling interviews, facilitate small group counseling sessions as well as engage in school counseling core curriculum activities. This course is a supervised field-based experience in which the enrollee serves as a school counselor-in-training in a school setting for a minimum of 100-clock hours. Prerequisites: CED 510, ED 514.(Formerly 519.02) and CED 543.
