Particular emphasis given tocontemporary issues such as feminism, the men's movements, legal/social implications of sexual preference, and the unique problems ofmen of color. Students conduct naturalistic observations, interviews,phenomenological descriptions and experiments.

The course teaches students the theoreticalunderpinnings causing disputes among parties. It emphasizesbuilding partnerships and long-term positive relationships in one'scareer and personal life. Students will investigate the theory andpractice of using power, assessing conflict, improving communicationtechniques in problem solving with regards to appropriate strategies,tactics and goals in conflict resolution. This course will also focus onmediation skills, and students will have an opportunity to practiceconflict management strategies to solve actual conflicts.
