Each student prepares a portfolio of professional life learning experiences and may earn up to 30 credits. Career patterns are reviewed and analyzed, and goals are assessed through exercises and activities. Future trends are examined in relation to changing careers and life styles. Portfolio fee. Prerequisite: EN 200 or consent of instructor.

3.00 - 6.00 Credits
(3 - 12 credits - Music Business Majors only) Student works and learns under supervision in an approved internship with a firm or agency. Activities may include both day-to-day operational experiences as well as corporate research activities. Specific expectations of the internship experience will be determined by the company representative/supervisor of the student, the internship coordinator, and the student participating in the hands-on experience. Prerequisites: Business majors only, Junior class standing, 2.5 GPA, and application to the Business Department. Pass/No pass grade. Not acceptable toward residency. Students must apply for internships the semester prior to registering.

Principles of learning as they relate to the Christian education program of the church with emphasis on the historical development of the Christian education movement. Specific emphasis will be upon the methods and materials of the Sunday school, youth program, leadership education, and other aspects of the task of the church.

(Alternate years 2010-2011) Focuses upon building community and affecting spiritual growth through retreats and adventure outings in a safe, yet challenging, outdoor atmosphere. This course will include comprehensive coverage of the planning and experiential phases of retreats and outings. Prerequisite: Upper division status or consent of instructor.

This course is designed to provide the first-time, first year student with the academic and social skills required to become an engaged member of the Warner Pacific academic community. Working from a specific understanding of motivation, the purpose of a liberal arts education, academic self-efficacy, sense of belonging and strength, students are encouraged to claim their education individually and mutually. Through readings, discussions, critical and reflective writing and mentor interactions students will articulate their own perspectives on learning and growth. Required of all first-time, fall semester freshmen. Not available on a Pass/No Pass basis.

This interdisciplinary course foregrounds cross-cultural learning experiences and service opportunities in order to form students as more engaged members of the Warner Pacific College community, the wider body of Christ and the peoples of the world. Recognizing that diverse experiences and disorienting environments are catalysts for lifelong learning and growth, the course will help students develop a framework for understanding the complexity and variety of cultural contexts in which we find ourselves. Students will be on site for a minimum of 21 days.

A general introduction to Christian ministry for persons pursuing vocations other than professional/pastoral ministry. The class will explore the nature of calling and giftedness for ministry, concepts of servant leadership, and applications including discipleship, evangelism, missions, service, worship, and administration of church and parachurch organizations. May not be used to satisfy requirements for the Religion and Christian Ministries major.
