Topics include the nature and effects of feedback, transfer functions, continuoustime state variables, matrix formulation, responses in the time-domain and frequencydomain, system stability, and the design of compensation networks such as PID controllers. Computer simulation of control systems. Laboratory demonstrations of position and speed control of servosystems. Applications in process control, manufacturing, and robotics. (Prerequisite: MTH 321.)
