This preparation gives the student the confidence and skills to use Spanish in a variety of social contexts, and provides a bridge experience to upper-division course work in Spanish. Objectives are to increase oral proficiency, improve reading and writing skills, and to increase knowledge and awareness of the geography and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world through cultural readings, short stories, and class lectures and discussions.
