The course investigates the entreprenuerial process in a variety of contexts. The course surveys a variety of issues surroundingf new venture creation, including the business plan, the economics of the business, determining resource needs and acquiring resources, marketing requirements, deal structure, technology issues, harvesting issues, and ethical issues, among others.

    This course focuses on financing issues facing the entrepreneur. It will study the tooks and methods used in determining how much money a venture actually needs in order to be viable. Further, it will explore tools and approaches used when selling an idea to potential investore. Attention will be devoted to the different types if financing alternatives avaiable to new and early stage ventures. The venture capital market will be investigated in detail. In addition, it will explore issues involved in formulating deal structures.

    Students will examine the fundamental concepts and terminology of economics. They will understand the nature and determination of the Gross Domestic Product, business cycles, unemployment, inflation, fiscal policy, monetary policy, and economic stabilization. They will learn to record and report business transactions, and they will proceed through the entire accounting cycle.
