This course is designed for students with one year or less experience in a foreign language. The focus is on the fundamentals of all four language skills-speaking, writing, listening, reading. All activities are contextualized and functional so that the skills developed are applicable to the authentic language and cultural environment of the country.

This course is designed for students with more than one year's experience in the foreign language being offered. The focus will be on the expansion of grammatical concepts while providing more demanding content and continuing the approach of FLA 101. Emphasis will be on the productive skills, speaking and writing.

A study of the materials on the earth's crust, the processes that produce and modify them, and the development of the earth through time. Three one hour lectures and one two-hour laboratory.

An introduction to the study of geography. Some attention is given to physical geography and the study of earth topography, climate, and the conditions affecting human habitation. Special attention is given to the nature and distribution of resources for social and economic development. The process of globalization, issues of environmentalism, and sociopolitical conflicts resulting from inequities of development are considered in a survey of the world's principal geographic regions.

A study of the earth's surface and how it changes daily, yearly and over millions of years. Topics include the land surface, earth's crust, and the alterations caused by wind, water, ice, the lower layers of the atmosphere, and upper layers of the oceans. Prerequisite: GEL211

This course is designed to assist students when making intelligent decisions throughout life in order to achieve an optimal level of wellness. Emphasis will be placed on the wellness concept and its relationship to fitness, nutrition, self-esteem, and stress management. The areas of catastrophic diseases, aging process, and medical consumerism will be covered.

Methods and techniques in the care and prevention of basic injuries are discussed. An American Red Cross examination will be given in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, as well as First Aid

An overview of the physical changes that accompany the aging process and the influences of environment and behavior on these processes. The maintenance of health will be discussed as well as the role and response of the health care system to aging.

Basic principles of nutrition as they apply to the general population in the maintenance of optimum health and to the competitive athlete with the objective of attaining optimum performance levels.

9.00 Credits
This course is an advanced study of the development of the world's cultures from pre-history through the Middle Ages. It integrates the study of history, the fine arts, literature, world religions, philosophy, and the history and philosophy of mathematics. Research, writing, and public speaking will be emphasized. The course satisfies the General Education requirements for UNI101, ENG102, HIS202, and FIA102. Prerequisite: Admission to the Honors College
