GRK 350: Accelerated Classical Greek Language and Culture III

Prerequisite: GRK 102 or its equivalent with a grade of C or better; or permission of the instructor. Students should consult instructor for eligibility. This is a review of the grammar, syntax, and basic vocabulary for students who have had at least a year of Classical Greek in college or two years in high school. It is intended to prepare students for reading both classical and koine Greek. Readings selected from classical authors and New Testament texts. The course includes a cultural component which emphasizes the civilization of the ancient Greek world and the history of Greek literature; a special unit on the place of Greek in the Indo-European family of languages, and principles of English word-borrowing is included.
