Dinosaurs are used to illustrate fundamental concepts of biology. Topics include methods of classification, evolutionary mechanisms including extinction, the process of fossilization, a survey of major dinosaur groups, and biological principles of biomechanics, physiology, and behavior. Current theories and controversies concerning dinosaur biology are evaluated. One or two class meetings are held at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. BIO 109 should be taken concurrently.
