    Prerequisite: None Corequisite: None This course covers energy management principles and techniques typical of those found in industry and commercial facilities, including load control and peak demand reduction systems. Topics include load and peak demand calculations, load shedding, load balance and power factor, priority scheduling, remote sensing and control, and supplementary/ alternative energy sources. Upon completion, students should be able to determine energy management parameters, calculate demand and energy use, propose energy management procedures, and implement alternative energy sources. Topics include number systems, Boolean algebra, logic families, MSI and LSI circuits, AD/DA conversion, and other related topics.     Prerequisite: None Corequisite: None This course introduces the fundamental concepts of control of rotating machinery and associated peripheral devices. Topics include rotating machine theory, ladder logic, electromechanical and solid state relays, motor controls, pilot devices, three-phase power systems, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to interpret schematics and demonstrate an understanding of electromechanical and electronic control of rotating machinery. (F.)

Emphasis is placed on applying the conventions of written English, refl ecting standard usage and mechanics in structuring a variety of sentences. Upon completion, students should be able to write correct sentences and a unifi ed, coherent paragraph.     Prerequisite: ENG 090 (C or better) or appropriate score on placement test (AW = 44+, COMPASS = 71+) and RED 090 (C or better) or appropriate score on placement test (AR = 42+, COMPASS = 80+) Corequisite: None This course is the required fi rst course in a series of two designed to develop the ability to produce clear expository prose. Emphasis is placed on the writing process including audience analysis, topic selection, thesis support and development, editing, and revision. Upon completion, students should be able to produce unifi ed, coherent, well-developed essays using standard written English. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in English composition.     Prerequisite: ENG 111 Corequisite: None This course, the second in a series of two, introduces research techniques, documentation styles,and argumentative strategies. Emphasis is placed on analyzing data and incorporating research fi ndings into documented argumentative essays and research projects. Upon completion, students should be able to summarize, paraphrase, interpret, and synthesize information from primary and secondary sources using standard research format and style. This course has been approved to satisfy the comprehensive Articulation Agreement general education core requirement in English composition.
