A study of the current standards, methods and practices of destructive testing of welds. Test coupon samples are prepared with the electric arc (S.M.A.W.), M.1.G. processes and oxycetylene (O.A.W.) processes. Students use pre-qualified joints and standard test plates they make on their own or those prepared by other in advanced classes. The course covers both pipe and structural welding code specifications including but not limited to The American Petroleum Institue (API) 1104. Destructive test methods studied in this course are tensile and bend tests separately or in combination wit macroscopic examination and hardness testing. Spring.
