In addition to introducing the PSCTE program, the course will include an overview of the nature of the teaching profession, purpose, history, philosophy, organization, curriculum alignment and standards in American public school education. LiveText electronic portfolio software, required of all PSCTE candidates, will be implemented in this course.

Prerequisites: 15 hours of completed coursework, minimum GPA 2.0, permission of Dean of Education. This program is designed for students with an intended major in Education to explore and/or gain work experience related to their major and anticipated career goals. Students may enroll for 14 hours of credit which will be graded on a credit/no credit basis. A minimum of forty hours of work experience will be required for every hour of credit per semester. The student will complete necessary paperwork with employer and the office of the Dean of Education. The student's work will be supervised by the School of Education staff. A final paper will be prepared at the conclusion of the internship.
