REL 420: Senior Thesis
3.00 Credits
Midland University
3 credit hours Completion of the religion/philosophy major requires that all students complete a senior thesis. Students will be assigned a primary supervisor from the department faculty depending on their area of research. All students will: 1) meet at least once a week with the supervisor; 2) define an area of research in biblical studies, historical theology, or philosophy; formulate a thesis; do necessary supportive research to demonstrate the validity of the thesis; and 3) present their findings in a formal paper with oral defense to the religion/philosophy faculty. The senior thesis is designed as an experience in independent research and the student is responsible for its specific content and structure. If students are also majoring in English and complete ENG 460, a religion/philosophy department elective may be substituted for REL 420.
