ED 440 Elementary/450: Secondary Teaching Practicum

Th e culmination of the continuing fi eld experience program is in the candidate teaching practicum taken during the senior year for a full semester or a semester plus interim. Candidates for certifi cation are placed in specifi c teaching assignments in accredited schools with an experienced cooperating teacher (at least three years of successful teaching) and under the supervision of a college professor. Prior to the opening of school for the fall term, all candidate teachers (fall, J-Term or spring terms) are required to participate in the pre- opening orientation sessions in the schools. Candidate teachers will spend the rest of the term working full days at their assigned placement. Total credit for the professional laboratory, clinical, and practicum experience is 12-15 hours. Candidate must be admitted to Teacher Education.
