Explores the individual and personal dimensions of leadership. Increased knowledge of one's talents are the primary goals. Taught as a seminar, the course requires active participation, and selected outside reading and written projects. Although designed for those primarily in education, anyone in another career or profession can benefit from this guided study of the personal qualities required for leadership.

Designed to provide the educational administrator effective skills focused on meeting the Nebraska state legislation on required human relations course for certification along with a focus on public relations. The course includes an analysis of principles, practices, and materials that facilitate the adjustment and interpretation of schools to their internal and external publics, process to organize, administer, and evaluate the public and human relations program along with the school district's development of a public relations plan.

Reviews current philosophy and practices in supervision at both the elementary and secondary school levels. Emphasis will be placed upon a developmental model of improvement of instruction and the domains of the principalship. A course designed for prospective mentors, principals, supervisors, and school superintendants.

Examines the role of the secondary principal as a building manager, instructional leader, and decision maker. Focus on curriculum planning, scheduling, co-curricular activities, staff and human and public relations, supervision of instruction, auxiliary services, student personnel, and the administration of other phases of the secondary school program. Prerequisite: EDAD 636.

Study the functions of business management for schools including, budgetary considerations, auditing and reporting, management of funds, purchasing procedures and inventory, insurance, auxiliary services, a background of school finance, various levels of governmental financing of public schools, judicial decisions and their effects, bond issues, school finance forms, and finance of schools in the future.

Overviews the elementary school administrator in organizing, administering, and supervising an elementary school. Budgeting concepts and procedures will be studied and analyzed. Presupposes training and experience in elementary education and some knowledge of administration and the psychology of elementary school subjects. Prerequisite: EDAD 636.

A study concerning the organization and control of American schools. Discussion will include federal and court mandates; state and local control; teacher, parent, and special interest groups; and college and/or university influences.

Principles and processes of developing functional educational facilities. Procedures and techniques for each phase of facility planning are included. Topics include: survey of needs, the Master Plan, site selection, the Educational Specifications plan, selection of an architect, building design phases, payment of services during construction, furniture and equipment selection along with a proactive maintenance plan and operations.

Theories, principles, and practices of school personnel administration with the focus including that of various personnel administration tasks including selection, in-service, performance evaluation, and professional negotiations.
