    This program is designed to prepare individuals for careers medical community that involve coding or claims processing. Coding Specialists are responsible for translating and sequencing medical documentation into formal standardized, numerical codes for diagnoses and procedures. Coding Specialists work closely with healthcare providers to ensure the accuracy of the translation. Medical coding is a vital behind-the-scenes activity that supports the coding process and quality patient care. The program focuses on advanced coding skills and preparing for certification in this field. The program is composed of five courses. Students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to sit for the Certified Professional Coding examination administered by the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC).

    Prepares the student for an entry-level position in an outpatient healthcare setting such as a medical practice or health-related call center. Students will become familiar with a general workflow of an outpatient medical practice. Critical thinking concepts and customer service skills and activities are infused throughout the curriculum, as will generational and cultural diversity, where appropriate.

    This course serves as a 15-hour course that includes a detailed review of current Nursing Home Administrators regulations, how to apply for the licensure exams, and practice exam questions to prepare the learner for the PA State Board of Examiners Nursing Home Administrator examination.

    Provides individuals with a basic overview of the history of child protection in America, including the key points of the Child Protective Services System. The two-hour course outlines the elements of child abuse, including the legal definitions for the child, perpetrator, as well as the definitions and indicators or abuse. Obligations of the mandated reporter are explained, how to make a report, protections for those who report and the penalties for failing to file a report. This interactive course meets the ACT 31 requirement for license renewals and involves lecture, group discussion, knowledge checks and discussion of reporting scenarios.

    Basic information about the practice of dentistry and dental hygiene for students with no prior with no prior experience in a dental office. Basic terminology, procedures and principles related to dental practice are presented for students who are interested in pursuing a career in dental hygiene. This introductory course provides a foundation for future courses within the dental hygiene curriculum.

Coding specialists are responsible for translating and sequencing medical documentation into formal standardized, numerical codes for diagnoses and procedures. Coding specialists work closely with healthcare providers to ensure the accuracy of the translation. Medical coding is a vital behind the scenes activity that supports the billing process and quality patient care. This course focuses on advanced coding skills and preparing for certification in this field. Students are prepared to take the CPC certification exam for professional coder offered through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).     This course is intended for in school youth participants and will be facilitated in an online format. The course will provide the participant with an overview of medical terminology. Beginning with the frequently used suffixes, the course will progress to include commonly used terms from each of the major body systems Frequently used medical abbreviations will also be provided. At the end of this course the student will be able to correctly spell, define, pronounce and utilize the commonly used medical terms in the workplace.

    This comprehensive course provides the student with the basic knowledge and information to prepare for a career in a healthcare setting. Focus is an Introduction to Healthcare, Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology with Human Illness and Disease functions. This course is for those students transitioning into the Physician Office Assistant program, Medical Assistant program, or the Medical Coding Specialist program.

Coding specialist work closely with healthcare providers to ensure the accuracy of translation. Medical coding is a vital behind the scene activity that supports the billing process and quality patient care. The program focuses on advanced coding skills and preparing for certification in this field. The program is composed of six modules. Students taking this program are prepared to take the CPC certification exam for professional coders offered through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). A six-hour certification preparation course is provided at the conclusion of the program.
