This course will introduce the basic principles of ice rescue and to the basic equipment used to implement ice rescues. Students will be trained in the following: ice rescue environment and ice rescue safety, communications, initial ice rescue actions, hypothermia and its treatment, basic litter tie-ins, and basic litter handling skills. Much of the program is hands-on and time is allotted for practice in the form of a mock rescue. This course deals primarily with horizontal rescue situations.

This is a 16-hour course designed to familiarize students with water rescue and the problems associated with it. Topics include statistics, planning, hypothermia, drowning, shore based resuces, and self rescue.

The goal of this course is to stimulate the thought processes of the students and to make them aware of the potential tragedy, financial loss, legal, and moral responsibilities that they have when operating emergency vehicles. The course will verify proficiency in both the knowledge of driving an emergency vehicle.

This course is designed to familiarize emergency services personnel with the various elevator types and construction, and their operation during various non-emergency and emergency operations. Upon completing this course a student shall be able to operate safely, and insure the safety of civilians, while performing operations that involve elevators.

The Fire Academy provides theory and practical application of the fire fighter skills that exceed the instructional objectives of the NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter I and II training standards.

This course is designed to refresh and reinforce the basic knowledge and skills required by any fire fighter who wishes to work efficiently, effectively and safely as part of team on the fire ground or is preparing for their Fire Fighter I Certification Exam.

This entry level course is designed to introduce seasoned firefighters to advanced fire ground operations including Building Construction, Fire Safety Surveys /Fire and Life Presentation, Generators, Lighting Equipment, Technical Rescue, Fire Protection Systems, Service Testing of Hose, Combustible Gas and Liquid Fire Control, Foam, Coordinating Fire Ground Operations Communications, and Advanced Origin, Cause and Arson. This is the fifth of five levels (courses) in the curriculum. The student will be at least 18 years old at the start of the course.

Provides Fire Service personnel wanting to gain basic knowledge of essential words and phrases with assistance in communicating with Spanish-speaking people. This course content includes common real life situations, including emergencies, which Fire Service personnel would routinely encounter during interaction with Spanish-speaking people.

Provides an understanding of the variables (structure/compartment, fuel load/contents, ventilation, flow path, weather conditions) that can affect a firefighters??? ability to address interior fire events within residential or commercial structures. This course emphasizes the firefighter' s ability to conduct a comprehensive and ongoing size-up of the situation and recognize these variables, along with the precursors to rapid fire growth/flashover to respond appropriately and avoid a flashover situation. This course is designed to review fire dynamics, as they relate to fire growth/development in structures, to provide an understanding of the key indicators of rapid-fire growth/flashover, risk based- decision making and the proper methods to limit a flashover during an interior firefighting operation The ultimate goal of this training is to increase firefighter awareness and overall safety. Students who successfully complete this online course may register for the accompanying hands on training session.
