This entry-level course is designed to introduce new firefighters in high school to fire ground operation including Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), fire behavior, building construction, fire extinguishers, and forcible entry, ladders, and fire streams/hose line advancement. This is the third of five levels (courses) in the curriculum. Minimum age: 14 years old at the start of the course

This course provides firefighters in high school the basic knowledge to reinforce the evidence based research conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (AFT) and other fire service organizations. This course will introduce new terminology related to fire dynamics, legacy verse modern fuel loads, new construction techniques, flow paths, door control, and ventilation that impact fire ground operations.

This course provides the firefighter in high school the basic knowledge of strategy and tactics and how to apply the evidence based fire research conducted by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (AFT) and other fire service organizations. This course introduces new terminology related to fire dynamics, ventilation, flow paths, door control, transitional fire attack, basement fires, and new concepts for developing strategy and tactics.

This program deals primarily with rescues involving confined spaces. Subjects include definition, regulations, identification, needs, psychology, and techniques. Practical application of rescue techniques are practiced in real confined spaces.

Participants will become acquainted with the types of elevator installation and the components of the installations. The use of elevators during a fire will be discussed, as well as the proper procedures for handling of other elevator incidents not involving fire. Elevator Rescue equipment will be introduced and safety equipment, field assembled equipment as generally carried by rescue companies. A strong orientation to patient care and associated problems will be utilized.

Course covers chemistry of fire, hose and nozzles, fire streams, portable fire extinguishers, automatic systems live fire fighting exercises on incipient level fires with The course also reviews fire prevention activities.

This course will enable the student to safely attack and extinguish an interior fire in a structure as a member of a single hose team. Also, it will provide the student with a review and application of techniques used in safe fire fighting practices in an actual fire fire environment. Emphasis is placed on safety for both interior and exterior operations. Minimum Age of student on first day of class: 18

This course is designed to refresh and reinforce the basic knowledge and skills required by any fire fighter who wishes to work efficiently, effectively and safely as part of team on the fire ground or is preparing for their Fire Fighter II Certification Exam.

This course will introduce basic information concerning the use foam, as flammable liquid fire extinguishing agent. This module is targeted at the first responder, who will be faced with the task of fire suppression.
