    This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform technical search functions for a US&R team during a disaster or a planned event. The course provides all necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for technical search personnel to develop strategy and tactics to implement search during recon, and operations at structural collapse operations. It provides necessary instruction on use, care, maintenance and tactical applications of all search tools carried in the cache and provides information on how technical search integrates into the overall operation.

    This course is designed for those who may be beginning the operation of fire department pumps and those who wish to expand their knowledge of fire service pumps and pumping operations. Topics include: principles of pumping, mechanical principles of pumping, function and operation of the fire pump and its accessories theory of drafting, operator maintenance of the pump, hydrant operations, basic water systems, and basic principles of discharge. Practical evolutions of pump operations will be utilized. Students must have protective clothing, and their departmental apparatus. SCBA is not required.

    This course is a continuation of Fire Service Pump Operations. This class will focus on the advanced skills for fire service pump operation for those firefighters wishing to perfect their skill as a fire apparatus engineer or qualified pump operator. Prerequisites: Pump Operations I Minimum Age of Student on first day of class: 18

    This course is designed to introduce new firefighters to advanced fire ground operations including building construction, fire safety surveys, lighting, generator usage, technical rescue, fire protection systems, hose testing, combustible gas and liquid firefighting, foam operations, fire ground communications, and advanced origin, cause, and arson determination skills.

    Failure of the building or building components under fire conditions is a leading cause of firefighting death and injury. The ability to recognize or locate relevant information about a building before a fire, and to "read" a building during the progress of a fire, are essential survival skills. This course prepares the student to accomplish these skills in buildings of wood frame or ordinary construction.

    This course will enable the student to safely attack and extinguish an interior fire in a structure as a member of a single hose team. Also, it will provide the student with a review and application of techniques used in safe fire fighting practices in an actual fire environment. Emphasis is placed on safety for both interior and exterior operations. Minimum Age of student on first day of class: 18

    This course is designed to familiarize students with water rescue and its associated problems. Topics include statistics, planning, hypothermia, drowning, shore-based rescues, and self-rescue. Prerequisites: Current CPR certification; at least 18 years

    This 40 hour course is designed to cover the NFPA 1006 Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications Job Performance Requirements (JPR's) for Chapter 5 -- General Requirements. These JPR's must be met prior to receiving certification as a Rescue Technician in any sub- specialty. Topics covered include: Incident management and site operations, use of tactical work sheets, basic ground search techniques, helicopter ground support operations, victim management (triage, assessment and operations, victim management (triage, assessment and construction and operation of belay systems, low-angle litter evacuation techniques equipment inspection and maintenance, and termination procedures. Students meeting prerequisites and successfully completing this program should be adequately prepare to take the written and practical certification exams for the Rescue General Requirements level. Prerequisites: at least 18 years of age (required to take certification exam); current CPR certification (adult, child and infant); current HazMat Operations certification; DOH First Responder or ARC Emergency Responder certification or higher.

    This 40 hour course will cover the NFPA 1670 competencies at the Technician Level for Confined Space Entry and Rescue Operations. Topics include preplanning, scene size-up and assessment, hazard control atmospheric monitoring, ventilation, respiratory protection, control of hazardous energy, entry procedures, patient management and termination considerations. Prerequisites Respiratory Protection I (REPA) or equivalent and Basic Rigging for Rope Rescue Minimum Age of Student on First Day of Class: 18

    This course provides the firefighter basic knowledge of strategy and tactics and how to apply the evidence based fire research conducted by Underwires Laboratories (UL), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), ATF, and other fire service organizations to fire ground ops.
