The Emergency Vehicle Services Vehicle Operator course provides emergency vehicle operators with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely operate an emergency vehicle in emergency and non-emergency mode. The Pennsylvania Department of Health requires that all EMS operators take a DOH -approved course prior to operating an emergency vehicle. Topics covered include legal aspects of emergency vehicle operations, navigation and route mapping, driver roles and responsibilities, basic driving skills, and proper driving procedures. Corequisites: HACC EVOS (academic) certificate from a HACC EMT Program.

Provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel wanting to gain basic knowledge of essential words and phrases to assist in communicating with Spanish-speaking people. The 16-hour self-paced online course content includes common real-life situations including emergencies, which EMS personnel would routinely encounter during interaction with Spanish-speaking people.

Prepares Flight Medical Provider (FMP) to sit for the industry???s most challenging exams: Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C), Critical Care Paramedic Certification (CCP-C), Critical Care Transport Registered Nurse (CTRN?half) and Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN). This intensive course introduces FMP's to the fundamentals of critical care transport and expands the existing knowledge base of the advanced pre-hospital provider. In addition, this course helps FMPs advance their clinical knowledge in concepts to include pathophysiology, pharmacology, advanced airway management, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, obstetrics, neonatology, toxicology, rescue operations and flight physiology concepts.

Introduces the prospective field training officer to structure tools, techniques and concepts of Emergency Medical Services-Field Training and Evaluation Program (EMS-FTEP) and provides instruction in the principles of adult learning, coaching, evaluation, giving feedback, and documenting trainee performance using EMS-FTEP tools (e.g: Standardized Evaluation Guidelines, Phase guide, Phase Task Book and Daily Observation Reports). By the completion of the Basic EMS Field Training Officer course, the new FTO is prepared to perform the leadership, instructional, and operational duties of an Field Training Officer (FTO) in their organization.

Emphasizes beginner-level reading comprehension strategies and is also designed to help students improve upon their vocabulary and reading fluency. Courses in reading and comprehension improvement are open to all students. Students who are required to take reading courses are identified through the College Testing and Placement Program and may need to work through more than one semester. Prerequisite: ENGL 001 entry-level performance in the College Testing and Placement Program.

Provides students with the skills necessary to develop clear sentences, paragraphs, and short essays with an emphasis on basic grammar and usage skills. A grade of C or higher in this course, which includes satisfactory completion of a final writing project, qualifies the student for ENGL 051. Prerequisite: Placement through the College Testing and Placement Program.

Provides students with the skills necessary to develop clear, coherent paragraphs and longer essays with an emphasis on basic grammar and syntax. Attention is given to the formulation of thesis statements and the development of ideas. A grade of C or higher in this course, which includes satisfactory completion of a final writing project, qualifies the student for ENGL 101. Prerequisite: Placement through the College Testing and Placement Program or completion of ENGL 050 or 029 with a grade of C or higher.

Introduces students to the strategies and skills needed to negotiate and understand reading and to compose text. A grade of C or higher in this course is equivalent to a grade of C or higher in both reading (ENGL 002) and writing (ENGL 050) required for enrollment into any other courses that require ENGL 002 and/or ENGL 050 as prerequisites. Prerequisite: ENGL 002 entry-level performance in the College Testing and Placement Program, or ENGL 001 with a grade of C or higher, and a score of 2 or 3 on the Writing Placement Test.
