    Emphasizes the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system and its role in providing the immediate care of life- threatening injuries or illness, controlling the scene, and preparing for ambulance the arrival. This course is divided into the following sections: Preparatory, Airway, Patient Assessment, Medical, Trauma, Special Patient Populations and EMS Operations. This course is intended as the primary education for individuals who are most often the first to arrive at the scene of a trauma or medical emergency.

    TECC: Tactical Emergency Casualty Care, trains EMS practitioners of all levels how to safely respond to and care for patients in a civilian tactical environment, active shootings. This program is designed to decrease preventable deaths in the field. Developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and endorsed by the American College of Surgeons, TECC, Second Edition reflects current, medical knowledge and practice, and promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care.

    This refresher course is designed for the current or expired provder. This self paced course goes beyond the National EMS education standards to provide you with the current EMS practices to build and refresh your existing knowledge. This course is broken down into six modules that will review Emergency Medical Technician concepts of Preparatory, Patient assessment, Airway, OB ,Infants and children, Trauma, Medical and behavioral. After completing this course you can apply these hours towards the distributive learning hours needed for recertification or renewal. Student must have held or currently hold pre-hospital emergency medical services certification from an issuing a state department of health division or from the National Registry of EMT.

    This course is designed to enhance the knowledge base of an EMT particularly when caring for an adult patient experiencing a cardia emergency. Students will be able to demonstrate competency in airway assessment and management, explain the relationship between myocardial oxygen demand verses supply, differentiate between angina pectoris and myocardial infarction, and develop an understanding of the resuscitation team approach.

    Prepares students to deliver therapy to patients prior to their arrival in hospital emergency rooms. Students are trained in life support procedures performed by following orders of physicians, which are sent by radio or through following standard medical protocols. This course emphasizes patient assessment, shock and fluid therapy, pharmacology, and field communications. Students also begin Emergency Department clinical time. Students must have a current Pennsylvania or National Registry AEMT certificate. This course is one of the four courses students take within the Paramedic certificate.

    Prepares students to deliver therapy to patients prior to their arrival in hospital emergency rooms. Students are trained in life-support procedures performed by following orders of physicians sent by radio or through following standard medical protocols. This course focuses on the pathophysiology and treatment of diseases associated with the following body systems: respiratory, cardiovascular neurology, hematology and blood disorders. Students complete hospital emergency department rotations, as well as 16-hours of anesthesia rotations. Students must have a current Pennsylvania or National Registry AEMT certificate. This course is the second course of the four-course Paramedic certificate. Prerequisite:    EMSW 031

    Prepares students to deliver therapy to patients prior to their arrival in hospital emergency rooms. Students are trained in life-support procedures performed by following orders of physicians sent by radio or through following standard medical protocols. This course emphasizes medical emergencies involving OB/GYN, toxicology, hematology, pediatrics and psychiatric problems. Students complete specialty rotations in OB and anesthesia, as well as field externships. Students must have a current Pennsylvania or National Registry AEMT certificate. This course is the third course within the four-course Paramedic certificate. Prerequisite:    EMSW 031 & EMSW 032
  • 14.00 Credits

    Prepares students to deliver therapy to patients prior to their arrival in hospital emergency rooms. Students are trained in advanced life-support procedures performed by following orders of physicians sent by radio or through following standard medical protocols. This course covers special challenges for EMS providers, medical technology in the home, assessment-based management, advanced physical assessment and clinical decision-making practices, as well as rescue practices. Students are also required to complete field externships as well as summative evaluations on campus. Students must have a current Pennsylvania or National Registry AEMT certificate. This course is the fourth course in the four- course Paramedic certificate. Prerequisite:    EMSW 031 & EMSW 032 & EMSW 033
