Continues the topics covered in CPS 161 with a focus on logical data structures and various physical implementations of the structures. Students are required to design and code several programs in such topics as stacks, queues, linked lists, recursion, string processing, hashing, trees, and graphs. Prerequisite: CPS 161 with a grade of C or higher.

Presents Object-oriented or OO programming. This course introduces students to the concept of classes and how abstraction, encapsulation, and inheritance fit into the object paradigm. Students are taught OO analysis and design. Syntax and its idioms are covered with particular emphasis on programming using OO. Prerequisite: CPS 121 with a grade of C or higher.

This course provides an overview of child development and behavior in children birth to 12 years. Emphasis is on how the biological, environmental, and cultural influences affect the typical and atypical growth and development of children. We will examine theories of child development and how research is applied with regard to the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of children College credit is available to participants who apply to HACC, complete the program in full and successfully complete the assessment process.

This course provides an in-depth look at, and the interrelationship of: health, safety and nutrition in the early childhood setting. It includes indoor and outdoor safety, reducing the spread of infection, understanding nutritional challenges, child abuse, inclusion of all children, and many other related topics. College credit is available to participants who apply to HACC, complete the program in full and successfully complete the assessment process.

The CKC is a comprehensive resource that identifies the skills and dispositions that adults who work with children need to know, understand and be able to implement.

Skill strategies discussed are professional habits, attitude personality traits. This course will help the student learn how to professionally communicate in an entry-level job.

Instructors will address the essential skills needed to successfully perform in today???s work environment and will empower students to convert the conceptual understanding of soft skills into everyday practice on the job. Areas addressed will include: communication, teamwork and collaboration, problem solving, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution. Upon completion of the course and all requirements, students will receive a certificate of completion.
