WLDW 004: Basic Welding

This 48-hour class will cover welding shop safety and the use of hand tools and equipment typically found in a welding shop. Oxygen acetylene welding will be reviewed, however, the focus is on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), more commonly known as stick welding. Students will learn how to set up a SMAW system, operate it, and make adjustments for a variety of conditions that welders encounter. Coaching and hands-on practice are offered for skill development. Basic welding supplies are included in the tuition.

This open class can be customized to meet your time and budget needs in one or more of the following welding skills areas: welding safety, welding theory and applications, GMAW (mig welding or gas metal arc welding), FCAW (flux core arc welding with both inner shield and outer shield options available), SMAW (stick welding or shielded metal arc welding), GTAW (tig welding or gas tungsten arc welding), cutting and brazing techniques, industrial welding print reading, math for welders, basic metallurgy, qualification and certification preparation.
