Introduces students to the roles and operations of an automotive service department. This course emphasizes customer relations, management skills, parts department operations, and technician development. Enrollment is restricted to students in the Autotmotive Technology AAS program and the Automotive Service Advisor Certificate. Prerequisite: AUTO 101 with a grade of C or higher.

Introduces students to automoatic shifted transmissions and transaxles used on current light duty vehicles. This course encompasses the theory and operation of hydraulic and electronic components utilized on automatic shifted transmissions and transaxles. Hands on assembly and reconditioning is emphasized, as well as current diagnostic and electronic operations are presented. Enrollment is restricted to students in the Automotive Technology AAS program. A course fee is required. Pre or corequisite: AUTO 205 with a grade of C or higher.

Encompasses the wide array of Safety, Driver-Assist, Entertainment, Security and Infotainment systems available on today's automobiles. This course emphasizes the components, communication and operation of these systems. Advanced diagnostics of various in-car computer networks using lab scopes and meters is also included. A course fee is required. Enrollment is restricted to students in the Automotive Technology AAS and the Automotive Service Advisor Certificate. Prerequisite: AUTO 205 with a grade of C or higher.

3.20 Credits
This course is designed to introduce students to the internal combustion engine. In this class, students will study the principles of four stroke engine operation and the various systems typically found on a small gasoline lawn mower engine. Students will gain a thorough understanding of engine operation through tasks designed to lead the student through disassembling, inspecting, and reassembling a small gasoline engine. This course is designed as a introductory class for students with or without previous mechanical knowledge.

The Safety Inspection Training course informs students of the regulations/procedures, and requirements concerning Pennsylvania Safety Inspection of vehicles. This course also provides students the opportunity to complete the State Certification Exam for Pennsylvania Safety Inspections. This course is for cars and light trucks only. Additional categories require additional tests and fees. A valid driver???s license is required for each category of testing. NOTE: OUT-OF-STATE DRIVER LICENSE INFORMATION If a student lives out-of-state, they must provide their out-of-state address and driver???s license information. (A Pennsylvania address may only be listed by a Pennsylvania resident.) A copy of the student???s out-of-state driver???s license must be provided to and approved by PennDot prior to testing. If they are a Pennsylvania resident, and they still possess an out-of- state driver???s license, they must surrender their out-of-state driver???s license and obtain a Pennsylvania Driver???s License. The purpose of this course is to certify automotive technicians to become Emissions Inspection Technicians. Students will identify, describe and perform a visual and On-Board Diagnostics II vehicle test according to the guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. For specialist/journeyman A/C technicians desiring to improve their diagnostic skills on automatic A/C dual zone and rear air systems. this course covers diagnostics of general automotive A/C systems with emphasis placed on safe handling procedures, recovery, recharging, diagnosis of electrical and mechanical control systems. Included in the course are lecture, demonstration, hands-on, and performance testing. Systems covered include: Diagnosis, Recovery and Recharging of Manual, Automatic, Dual Zone, and Rear Air Systems.

This 36 hour course will teach you the basic skills in fiberglassing, plastics, welding, surface preparation, finishing, and painting techniques. Removal and replacement of doors, fenders, hoods, etc. Most basic shop supplies are included; however, supplies for your vehicle are extra. Doors, hoods, etc. can be stored at site, but complete vehicles may not.

This course is a one-hour testing session designed for students to demonstrate they meet the requirements to conduct Pennsylvania State Safety Document Review and process R-titles.

This course is a two-hour testing session designed for students to demonstrate they meet the requirements to conduct Pennsylvania State Inspection for Medium and Heavy Trucks.
