This is a continuation of the Welding Fundamentals class. This course covers a variety of additional welding types and techniques as well as technical information and hands-on experience in electric arc welding, cutting, brazing and heliarc (TIG) welding. Other welding techniques are also covered. This class is ideal for those interested in exploring various types of welding. Students are required to provide their own essential welding safety gear: protective clothing, welding hood, safety glasses and gloves. The textbook is recommended but not required.
  • 24.00 Credits

This course is designed to develop individuals to be hired into an entry level position in the high-demand field of Welding Technology. It consists of two classes combined: Introduction to GMAW and Introduction to SMAW. This class will include training in both SMAW (Shielded Metal Arch Welding-"stick" and GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding-"mig") with an opportunity to qualify to an AWS standard at a level appropriate to each student's individual skill level and performance. Participants will receive welding theory in the classroom and welding skill practice in our extensive welding lab. The focus will be on learning and practicing proper welding technique for flat and horizontal welding positions. Participants will have the opportunity to submit for qualifications to the AWS D1.1 standard. Typical welding jobs require training, experience, a sharp eye for detail and a strict adherence to safety.
  • 4.80 Credits

This 48-hour class will cover welding shop safety and the use of hand tools and equipment typically found in a welding shop. Oxygen acetylene welding will be reviewed, however, the focus is on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), more commonly known as stick welding. Students will learn how to set up a SMAW system, operate it, and make adjustments for a variety of conditions that welders encounter. Coaching and hands-on practice are offered for skill development. Basic welding supplies are included in the tuition.
  • 100.00 Credits

For employers in need of welding skills and competencies, HACC offers welding training and testing options to meet your skill and competency requirements. This open class can be customized to meet your time and budget needs in one or more of the following welding skills areas: welding safety, welding theory and applications, GMAW (mig welding or gas metal arc welding), FCAW (flux core arc welding with both inner shield and outer shield options available), SMAW (stick welding or shielded metal arc welding), GTAW (tig welding or gas tungsten arc welding), cutting and brazing techniques, industrial welding print reading, math for welders, basic metallurgy, qualification and certification preparation. Essential safety gear is required for all students: welding hood, safety glasses, gloves and jacket. Safety gear and textbooks can be included
  • 12.00 Credits

This course is designed to develop the welding skill of an individual in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), commonly known as MIG Welding. This module consists of approximately eight hours of classroom instruction in GMAW theory. The balance of the training involves hands-on GMAW skill practice in the welding lab. The focus will be on learning and practicing proper welding techniques for flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead welding positions.

Focuses on teaching and practicing proper welding techniques for fillet and groove welds, in addition to teaching the fundamentals of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), a.k.a MIG welding, theory with the balance of class time devoted to hands-on GMAW skills in the welding Students are taught that welding jobs require training, experience, a sharp eye for detail and a strict adherence to safety and housekeeping rules. This course is open to first-time welding students and has no pre-requisites. For students taking this class as their first welding course they should plan for the additional expense of purchasing their own welding safety gear and the optional textbook The required safety gear includes: welding helmet, gloves, jacket and safety glasses.

Focuses on teaching and practicing proper welding techniques for fillet and groove welds in flat and horizontal positions. Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) is a critical skill in the construction industry where portable welding equipment is preferred. Typical welding jobs require training, experience, a sharp eye for detail and a strict adherence to safety and housekeeping rules. Students spend the balance of classroom time developing hands-on skills with practice in the welding lab. Welding safety gear is required and a textbook is highly recommended, especially for students interested in pursuing work in the field or further study. Students may incur additional expenses of purchasing their own welding safety gear and the optional textbook The required safety gear includes: welding helmet, gloves, jacket, and safety glasses.
  • 4.20 Credits

Teaches students the fundamentals of Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) theory with the balance of classroom time devoted to the development of hands-on skills with practice occurring in the welding lab. Shield Metal Arc Welding is knows as ??stick?? welding and is critical to construction where portable welding equipment is preferred. Therefore, this course focuses on teaching students and allowing them to practice proper welding techniques for fillet and groove welds in vertical and overhead positions. Required safety gear includes: welding helmet, gloves, jacket and safety glasses Prerequisite: WLDW 009 Welding Fundamentals - SMAW 1
  • 4.20 Credits

Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), is critical to manufacturing, production and many other applications. This course consists of approximately eight hours in the classroom learning the fundamentals of FCAW theory with the balance of time developing hands on skills with practice in the welding lab. The focus will be on learning and practicing proper welding techniques for fillet and groove welds in various positions. Welding safety gear is required and a textbook is highly recommended, especially for students interested in pursing work in the field or further study. Typically welding jobs require training, experience, a sharp eye for detail and a strict adherence to safety and housekeeping rules. This course is open to first time welding students and has no pre-requisites. For students taking this class as their first welding course, learner should plan for the additional expense of purchasing their own welding safety gear and the optional textbook.
