LEW 069: WPN Retention/Dim Light Firing

Helps students to develop proper handgun draw retention techniques, and threat separation skills when they are dealing with a use of deadly force situation. Students are able to demonstrate proficiency when firing from the weapon retention position and fire while separating themselves from a threat in low light situations. Students are instructed on and demonstrate proficiency with multiple flashlight hold techniques while firing a handgun in low light situations. This course requires students to have the following equipment: Duty Handgun with minimum of two magazines. (It is strongly encouraged that the handgun has functioning night sights.); duty belt with appropriate holster and magazine pouches; 200 rounds of factory ammunition for duty handguns; working duty flashlight with extra batteries; and eye and hearing protection. Prerequisite: Student must show possession of a current ACT 235 certification before being enrolled in the course.
