Emphasizing proper body mechanics and energy-efficient methods, the course primarily consists of hands-on training. This course is eligible for eight (8) continuing education units (CEU???s).

    Provide a course of study to prepare students for a massage therapy career by teaching Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Kinesiology, Business Practices, Professional Ethics, Special Populations and CPR. In addition, the following modalities will be taught: Swedish massage, Reflexology, Neuromuscular Therapy, Connective Tissue Therapy, Chair Massage, Sports Massage, Spa treatments and Aromatherapy, and Stone Massage.

    Personal Training is a career path in the fitness industry that requires a balance of academic and technical knowledge, clinical skills, manual dexterity, sensitivity and awareness. HACC???s Personal Trainer certificate includes coursework that includes exercise design and instruction. Students have the opportunity to work with the public on exercise activities, strength training and stretching, as well as fitness assessments. Students are taught scope of practice, coaching skills, and professionalism. Taking the nationally certified credentialing exam for personal is also included in this curriculum. Applicant's may register on line and are provided an enrollment package the first night of class. This 316 hour program is completed within 20-weeks. Classes are offered twice a week along with 8 hours of study through Virtual Learning. This program is offered at the Harrisburg Campus.

Using a thematic approach, this course observes the political, economic, social, and cultural characteristics of the various regional groups chosen for study. Important ideas, significant persons, and world views are described in the context of each theme. (S&BS)
