Prerequisites: ART HS 1100 and 6 credit hours in other art history courses. This course is intended as an introduction to the function and operation of the art museum. Sessions will include the history of art museums and collecting policies; the organization of art museums; the tasks of the curator; the registration practices; art conservation; the museum as an educational institution; the organization and planning of permanent galleries; and the planning and installation of temporary exhibitions.
