Topics covered include create, edit, format, print, and save documents while using the spelling dictionary, multi-page report, graphics, mail merge, macros, and table format features. (3.0 hours) Students learn MOUS core level skill profi ciency using Excel spreadsheet program, Access database management program, and PowerPoint presentation graphics program. They demonstrate their software profi ciency by successfully completing business project. Prerequisite: Keyboarding skills.

(3.0 hours) The course emphasizes the following topics: work effi ciency, setting priorities, time management, information retrieval and management, decision- making competencies, human relations techniques, ethical behavior, meetings, travel, and fi nancial documents. (3.0 hours) A course in further development of keyboarding skills, with special attention given to improving accuracy and increasing speed. Major emphasis is given to producing mailable copy on tables, correspondence, and rough draft reports under timed conditions. Individualized instruction-using microcomputer. Prerequisite: BT 1013 or speed of at least 40 wpm for fi ve minutes with a maximum of three errors.

(3.0 hours) A course specializing in the organization, functions, and duties in a medical offi ce. Special attention is given to the patient records, fi nancial responsibilities, coding, and professional activities. Preparing health insurance forms will be included. Prerequisite: BT 1123, 1083, and BT 1063

(3.0 hours) A study of the communication needs in business, the oral and written, with emphasis on inter-company communication, letters, and reports. Special attention is given to organization, mechanics and the business vocabulary. Prerequisite: None

(3.0 hours) A specialized course in medical terminology transcription for students who are profi cient in keyboarding and medical terminology, and who have a working knowledge of transcription equipment. Individualized instruction-using microcomputers. Prerequisite: BT 1063, BT 1083, and BT 1123
