A 4 credit hour lecture and lab course dealing with the application of biological principles to the study of animals including classification, structure, and function. Emphasis is placed on the vertebrates. Selected experiments are performed to illustrate principles taught in lecture. Prerequisite: BIO 1134 or BIO 2414. 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab.

The first of a two-semester sequence, this course provides students with a general introduction to cells and tissues, the anatomy and physiology of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. Prerequisite: ACT composite of 16, ACCUPLACER Reading score of 71, or completion or BIO 1113, 1123, 1133, or 1143 with a "C" or higher. Co-requisite: BIO 2511. 3hours lecture.

A lecture/laboratory combination and the first of a two-semester sequence, this course provides students with a general introduction to cells and tissues, the anatomy and physiology of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. Prerequisite: ACT composite of 16, ACCUPLACER Reading score of 71 or completion of BIO 1113, 1123, 1133, or 1143 with a "C" orhigher. 3 hours lecture, 2 hours lab.

A lecture/laboratory combination and the second of a two-semester sequence, this course focuses on the study of the digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory, urinary, reproductive, and endocrine systems. Other topics include fluid/electrolyte balance and immunity. Prerequisites: BIO 2514 Anatomy & Physiology I w/lab (or BIO 2513/2511). 3 hours lecture, 2 hours lab.

A laboratory course devoted to lab safety and gaining hands-on experience in the area of: microscopy, culturing techniques (pure culture and isolation and media preparation), staining techniques, aseptic technique, diagnostic procedures and effectiveness of antimicrobial agents.

A lecture course providing a survey of the microbes (microscopic organisms) with emphasis on those affecting other forms of life, especially man.

A 4 credit hour lecture and lab course which gives the student an introduction to microbiology principles including chemical principles, microscopy, microbial metabolism, microbial genetics, classification schemes, principles of disease and epidemiology, microbial mechanisms of pathogenicity, and host resistance. Selected experiments are performed to illustrate principles taught in lecture. 3 hours lecture, 2 hours lab.

This course provides opportunity and practice to develop business and office skills. 1 hour optional lab.

The computer is used to teach students basic keyboarding (typewriting) skills. The location of keys is taught using computer software. Speed and accuracy are stressed with a minimum speed goal of 20 words per minute for three minutes with no more than three errors. 1 hour lab.
