Includes basic statistical methods, test construction, evaluation and measurement of anthropometrics, fitness, motor performance, skill levels and related functions. Instructional approaches to teaching basic movement skills. Activities include lead-up games, games of low organization, dance, locomotor and non-locomotor movements in a variety of sports and activities. Activities include basketball, bowling, floor hockey, softball, soccer and volleyball. Designed for both elementary education and physical education majors. Does not meet the health and fitness liberal arts core requirement. Offered fall semester every other year.

Techniques of teaching skills for the following sports: aquatics, badminton, fencing, golf, racquetball, tennis, track and field. Includes progressions, skill analysis, game strategy, rules and evaluation at the secondary level. Does not meet the health and fitness liberal arts core requirement. Techniques of teaching sport skills for the following sports: soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball. Includes teaching methods, class organization, unit and lesson plans, progressions, skill analysis, game strategy, rules and evaluation at the secondary level. The study of the effects of nutrient intake on human energy and athletic performance; current use of ergogenics and dietary supplements; review of current literature, teaching resources and consumer publications. Nutritional recommendations for athletes throughout the lifecycle. Does not meet the health and fitness liberal arts core requirement. Also offered as FSNU. Offered fall semester every other year. Recommended: FSNU 2200 or 3000.

A lecture/laboratory course on the study of human motion including anatomical foundations of the skeletal and muscle systems and the application of mechanical principles to the analysis of human motion in physical education, fitness activities, sport and activities of daily life. Does not meet the health and fitness liberal arts core requirement. Offered winter semester every year. Prerequisite: BIOL 2510.

A lecture/laboratory course covering the theory and analysis of physiological responses and adaptations to exercise for fitness and human performance. Course topics include energy systems, exercise metabolism, circulatory and respiratory adaptations, blood pressure, oxygen consumption, acid-base balance, temperature regulation, body composition and nutrition, ergogenic aids, exercise and special populations. Offered fall semester every year. Prerequisites: BIOL 2510, 2520.

Physical education for the exceptional student with reference to the analysis of functional and organic challenges. Includes fieldwork in schools and programming ideas for the developmental adapted physical education class. Does not meet the health and fitness liberal arts core requirement. This course gives the you experience with the equipment and procedures used for assessment, design and implementation of fitness programs. Procedures include: physical work capacity (V02/stress test), EKG, blood pressure, body composition (skin fold calipers, bioelectrical impedance and underwater weighing), muscular strength and muscular endurance. Does not meet the health and fitness liberal arts core requirement. Offered winter semester every year. Prerequisites: EXSS 3350, 3450.
