The course will expose students to the relationship between appearance and readability of letterforms, placement of display and text typed in formatted space. As they work in a traditional context of hand rendering type, they will also be introduced to contemporary typesetting technology. As students understand the basics, they will be challenged to emphasis creativity and visual aesthetics with type. Typographical assignments will be geared to develop sensitivity to the integration of typography with a variety of visual imagery

An analysis of corporate objectives and practical applications will be the basis for developing a structured corporate image system including logo design and brand standards
