This course is designed to provide majors in accounting, business administration, economics, management and marketing with training in basic statistical concepts with emphasis on applications to business programs. Credit cannot be earned in more than one of the following: STAT 2010, 2050, and 2070.

The presentation and application of statistical inference. Topics include measures of central tendency, variance and standard deviation, probability modes, inference for means and proportions, analysis of variance for one-way classification, and an introduction to linear regression and correlation. Presentation of central ideas of descriptive statistics and statistical inference, as applied to questions in the social sciences. Topics include graphs, averages, sampling, estimation, hypothesis testing and relationship between variables. Associated computer skills will also be introduced. This course will introduce the student to substation technology with an emphasis on safety. The students will become familiar with substation technology terms and the types of tools and equipment used in the field. Students will also learn rigging of equipment including ropes and knots.

In this course the student will learn substation regulating, monitoring, and communication equipment. They will also learn ratings and voltages within Substations along with measuring, switching, troubleshooting, and controlling power within the substation. In addition, the student will learn the fundamental human resource principles.

This first course in technical mathematics is intended for students with minimal mathematics background, who wish to prepare for further study in technical areas. Topics include algebra, geometry, measurements, proportions and applied trigonometry. Use of the hand held calculator is emphasized throughout the course.

This course introduces the student to the mechanical, physical and chemical properties of metals and the methods by which these properties can be changed by alloying, heat treating and mechanical deformation.
