An advanced course concerned with evaluation and preparation of news for placement in multimeidia platforms including print, Web and social media. Covers correct procedure for checking and correcting text, photos, graphics, layout and design, and other elements of multimedia news presentation. (3 hrs lec)

A practical introduction to the design and production of a magazine. Includes critical examination of magazines from colleges, universities, and independent presses from throughout the nation. Culminates in a student-generated, student-edited, and student-published magazine. (3 hrs lec)

Provides practical experience in editing and managing the production of a student magazine. Includes planning, decision making, personnel management, and networking. Credit cannot be earned in both JOUR 2270 and ART 2750. Prerequisite: Successful completion of at least 30 credit hours. (3 hrs lec) Capstone Course

This course centers on publication of a newspaper during the week of the Journalism Jump Start summer workshop. We will also work with video and audio production. (6 hrs lab)

Students gain hands-on experience in creating and producing a movie script. Students will write the script and perform it, engage in pre-production planning, videotaping, lighting, sound, and post-production editing. Students will compose a music soundtrack, develop an interface for a DVD of the movie, and present the movie to the public. Prerequisite: JOUR 1320. (1 hr lec, 4 hrs lab)

Students master the knowledge specific to kinesiology and health promotion, develop critical thinking skills, and develop basic competence in communication skills and information literacy. (2 hrs lec)

Students study and practice supportive wrapping and taping techniques. There is emphasis on proper techniques and appropriate injury situations requiring added support. This course is ideal for students interested in careers in medicine, coaching, athletic training, physical therapy, massage therapy, chiropractic, and other sports medicine and allied health-related fields. (1 hr lec)

Students explore a wide variety of sports careers, including physical therapist, chiropractor, orthopedist, massage therapist, athletic trainer, EMT/paramedic, etc. Students hear from a variety of professionals in the field and will understand the inter-professional relationships in preventing injuries and caring for athletes. In the course of their study, students also learn common sports injuries, how to prevent them, and initial treatment. (3 hrs lec)
