Provides the beginning electrical apprentice with necessary skills and knowledge to ensure safe and efficient work practices on the job. Topics include safety, introduction to the National Electrical Code, basic electrical theory, lighting and appliance circuits, and wiring methods. First course in a series of eight. Prerequisite: Status as a first-year Electrical Apprentice with an Independent Electrical Contractor and registration with the State of Wyoming Electrical Board of the Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety as an apprentice electrician. Provides the first-year electrical apprentice with necessary skills and knowledge to ensure safe and efficient work practices on the job. Topics include series and parallel circuits, electric power, electrical theorems, special outlets, service calculations, and applications of the National Electrical Code. Second course in a series of eight. Prerequisite: ELAP 1515, status as a first-year Electrical Apprentice with an Independent Electrical Contractor and registration with the State of Wyoming Electrical Board of the Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety as an apprentice electrician. Topics include safety, AC electricity, inductance, capacitance, transformers, motors, and applications of the National Electrical Code. Third course in a series of eight. Prerequisite: ELAP 1525, status as a second-year Electrical Apprentice with an Independent Electrical Contractor and registration with the State of Wyoming Electrical Board of the Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety as an apprentice electrician.
