Students examine the fundamentals and concepts of various investments from the viewpoint of a financial planner. Prerequisite: Completion of ACCT 2020.

Students acquire knowledge of the principles and theory of the U.S. banking system, with a focus on deposit accounts and payment systems, the lending function and lending regulations, compliance with regulatory laws and requirements, and personal financial planning services. Prerequisite: Completion of FIN 1110.

Students gain a theoretical and practical framework for corporate financial management. Topics to be included are functions of financial management, financial analysis and forecasting, time value of money, risk and return, portfolio analysis, capital budgeting, financial assets, and cost of capital. Prerequisites: Completion of/or concurrent with ACCT 2020, MATH 2355, and STAT 2010.

Students integrate academic experiences with professional experience under the supervision of a manager in a financial institution or a certified financial planner in a cooperating organization. Students engage in the daily operations of the organization as an entry level finance intern. Prerequisite: Completion of BADM 1020 and instructor consent.

Students explore the nature of ethical behavior in business and its broader implications for society. Students examine ethics in business and the factors that impact the ethical decision-making process. Students practice skills and strategies to develop and evaluate a business code of ethics as well as employee training programs on ethical business behavior. Prerequisites: Completion of ACCT*3080 and MGT*3210

Students explore principles of emergency services, including fire protection, career opportunities in fire protection, and related fields. Students examine the philosophy and history of the fire service, fire loss analysis, and the organization and function of public and private fire protection services. Students analyze fire departments as part of the local government, laws and regulations affecting the fire department, and many other topics specific to the foundation of firefighting and emergency services. Prerequisite: Completion of AHA Health Care Provider CPR and/or program manager approval.

Students examine the principles of fire control through utilization of personnel, equipment, and extinguishing agents on the scene of a fire. Prerequisite: Completion of FIRE 1501 and/or program manager approval.

Students explore the use of water in fire protection, apply hydraulic principles, analyze flow demand criteria, and solve water supply problems. Prerequisite: Completion of MATH 0970 or equivalent placement test score, or program manager approval.

Students acquire fundamental information regarding the history and philosophy of fire prevention, organization, and operation of a fire prevention bureau; use of fire codes; identification and correction of fire hazards; and the relationships of fire prevention with built-in fire protection systems, fire investigation, and fire and life-safety education.

Students acquire information relating to the features of design and operation of fire alarm systems, water-based fire suppression systems, special hazard fire suppression systems, water supply for fire protection, and portable fire extinguishers.
