Students learn the basics of residential and commercial construction standards, materials, and design in relation to the installation of structured network cable solutions. Students develop the skillsets to identify entry and access points, create new physical access as needed, identify and consider risks, and resolve potential hazards or errors. Students practice the installation of structured network cable solutions, and the safe utilization of the tools and equipment that are standard in the industry.

Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to install and administer server hardware and operating systems. Students learn about the architecture, virtualization, installation, server roles, monitoring, performance, disaster recovery, security, licensing models, and troubleshooting of industry-standard servers and operating systems. Students also learn about system networking including network services and IPv4 and IPv6 addressing. At the conclusion of this course, students may be eligible to sit for the CompTIA Server+ certification exam or an equivalent.

Students in this course learn basic and advanced approaches to virtual machine installation, configuration, and management. Students explore the various advantages and disadvantages of virtualization. Topics covered include hardware requirements, operating system virtualization, application virtualization, techniques to minimize both downtime and maintenance, and an overview of virtualizing infrastructure. Prerequisite: Completion of CSCO 2000 or MSFT 2578.

This is a hands-on course designed to teach instructors how to apply up-to-date technology in their classroom. The tools to be used include both software and hardware and are used to enhance the learning management system (ANGEL). Examples include cameras, Bamboo pens, cell phones, Respondus, Tegrity, Camtasia, Impatica, virtual storage space, clickers, and Net-Ops. Prerequisite: Must be a current LCCC employee or instructor approval.

Students acquire knowledge and skills in maintaining and troubleshooting PCs. Topics include security, safety, environmental issues, communication, and professionalism, as well as installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware and operating systems.

Students acquire knowledge and skills enabling them to explain the process of data corruption and data loss and the steps required to protect data and perform simple data recovery. Prerequisites: Completion of CMAP 1615 and CMAP 1920 or instructor approval.

Students acquire additional knowledge and skills enabling them to explain in detail the process of data corruption and data loss and the advanced steps required to protect data and perform advanced data recovery. Prerequisite: Completion of CMAP 2472.

Students learn the fundamentals of common copper and ethernet network cabling deployments used within telecommunications and internetworking environments. Students develop hands-on skills in the installation, termination, repair and usage of ethernet and copper network cabling standards. Students will sit for an industry certification exam at the conclusion of this course.
