This course is designed to help students learn foundational concepts to design, develop, and maintain a small-to-medium relational database that supports a data-driven approach to business and analytics. Students design and develop effective reports that can be used to mine data to support informed business decisions and to track business performance over time.

This course introduces students to the popular Microsoft Office Outlook software. Using web and client versions, students develop the ability to customize Outlook, use e-mail client, manage Outlook's contacts, use Outlook calendar, manage tasks, use Outlook's journal component, and share folders and files with other Outlook users.

Students install, troubleshoot, configure, update, and maintain computer hardware. Students take the CompTIA A+ hardware exam. Students explore systems setup and the classification of RAM, motherboards, processors, multimedia and mass storage devices, power supplies, I/O devices, printers and laptops. Students also perform hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.

Students learn the basics of residential and commercial construction standards, materials, and design in relation to the installation of structured network cable solutions. Students develop the skillsets to identify entry and access points, create new physical access as needed, identify and consider risks, and resolve potential hazards or errors. Students practice the installation of structured network cable solutions, and the safe utilization of the tools and equipment that are standard in the industry.

Students develop the knowledge and skills needed to install and administer server hardware and operating systems. Students learn about the architecture, virtualization, installation, server roles, monitoring, performance, disaster recovery, security, licensing models, and troubleshooting of industry-standard servers and operating systems. Students also learn about system networking including network services and IPv4 and IPv6 addressing. At the conclusion of this course, students may be eligible to sit for the CompTIA Server+ certification exam or an equivalent.

Students in this course learn basic and advanced approaches to virtual machine installation, configuration, and management. Students explore the various advantages and disadvantages of virtualization. Topics covered include hardware requirements, operating system virtualization, application virtualization, techniques to minimize both downtime and maintenance, and an overview of virtualizing infrastructure. Prerequisite: Completion of CSCO 2000 or MSFT 2578.

This is a hands-on course designed to teach instructors how to apply up-to-date technology in their classroom. The tools to be used include both software and hardware and are used to enhance the learning management system (ANGEL). Examples include cameras, Bamboo pens, cell phones, Respondus, Tegrity, Camtasia, Impatica, virtual storage space, clickers, and Net-Ops. Prerequisite: Must be a current LCCC employee or instructor approval.
