Students learn techniques, equipment, and health issues associated with fitness walking. Students develop a structured routine of walking for fitness. (activity)

Students who are moderately active individuals, especially those over 55, will improve their strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, muscle tone, and cardiorespiratory capacity. Students participate in a variety of low impact aerobic exercise, strength and conditioning exercises using free weights and their own resistance, along with stretching and balancing workouts. In this intense, challenging exercise class, students improve their overall fitness level. Students complete full body workouts consisting of warm up, speed and agility, cardio intervals, resistance training, plyometrics, core stabilization, and flexibility exercises. (activity)

Students explore the sport of orienteering and its various skills, including compass skills, map reading, and cross country travel. (activity)

The student builds upon the skills covered in PEAC 1254 and is introduced to advanced fencing tactics and techniques. Prerequisite: Completion of PEAC 1254 or consent of the instructor. (activity)

Students examine the technical, mechanical, physical, and physiological aspects of hiking. The student also learns the safety and seasonal considerations associated with hiking. (activity)

Students are introduced to the nine foundational movements that are used during the Workout of the Day. These movements will be applied during each class to help students build the skills they need to excel.

Students learn full body workouts consisting of a warm up, speed and agility, cardio intervals, resistance training, plyometrics, core stabilization, and flexibility exercises. Through the workouts, students overall fitness levels will be enhanced.

Students acquire knowledge of fitness components---cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, muscular strength and endurance---and how these components are achieved using water to provide resistance. Students of all swimming abilities are encouraged to take this course.

Students demonstrate basic swimming components -- water safety, breathing, kicking, and basic strokes of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.
