Students perform hands-on skill simulations including data entry, prescription processing, billing, fulfillment, inventory management, customer service, and patient safety. This course teaches the skills necessary for working in institutional pharmacy settings. Students will utilize hands-on skill simulations of institutional pharmacy responsibilities including sterile compounding and aseptic technique, hazardous drug management, unit dosing and dispensing, patient safety, and communication with hospital staff. Prerequisite(s): TEPT 1110 and TEPT 1120 Other Registration Restrictions: Admitted to pharmacy technician program

This course explores technician roles in sterile compounding, diversion, supply chain management, medication history, therapy management and leadership. Course teaches technical skills needed to support career progression. Students will demonstrate skill mastery through case studies, critical thinking exercises and routine skill assessment. In this course, students will demonstrate their abilities to function as a pharmacy technician in industry settings. This experience takes place under the supervision of a pharmacist or an experienced pharmacy technician, and includes a combination of skills-practice and evaluation. Prerequisite(s): TEPT 1120

The College Academic Readiness course offers individualized, self-paced instruction in reading, mathematics, keyboarding and/or ten-key to prepare students for program level SAT courses. Instructors evaluate the students' current abilities and create personalized learning plans to target skill areas. Coursework includes a blended curriculum of online practice, software, and other resources. Ongoing assessment is incorporated to ensure students will succeed in their academic programs. Students will develop communication skills for academic and work life situations. Students will practice fluency and accuracy in speaking, and they will develop strategies for comprehending short spoken passages on familiar topics. Pre-Requisite(s): Appropriate SLCC placement.

This course develops basic reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar skills. This course is for students who have little basic English skills. Students will read a variety of informational texts, use literal comprehension reading skills, and connect reading across contents and experiences. Students will practice and apply the basic structures of English to perform simple writing tasks. Pre-Requisite(s): Appropriate SLCC placement.
