This course provides students with an overview of research techniques used in environmental science. Students will learn essential research methods in three areas: field research, laboratory research, and systematic, quantitative literature review. Students who complete this course will leave with a toolkit of skills that can be used to develop a capstone project in environmental science. Selected field trips of one to ten (1-10) days to areas of environmental interest. Designed for Environmental Science and Environmental Studies majors, course credit is earned by contracting with the instructor as to the amount and type of report to be submitted. Enrollment limited, instructor permission required. Transportation/food costs may be incurred. A passing grade must be earned in this course before it can be counted in a Geosciences major or minor or as a prerequisite for any other course.
