4 Credits First of a two-course sequence for biology majors, introducing fundamental concepts of the structure and function of living organisms at all levels of organization. Emphasis in this course is on the chemistry of living organisms and a detailed study of the structure and function of life at the cellular level. The course includes an introduction to cellular energy metabolism (aerobic respiration and photosynthesis) genetics, molecular biology and topics in biotechnology.
