MUSI 1163: Improvisation I

This course is designed to provide the student with an introduction to jazz improvisation. Students will study basic jazz harmony through the practical use of scale-chord relationships, jazz notation, ear training, rhythmic concepts, jazz style, and articulation. Each student will be required to improvise on the instrument of his/her choice. Must be taken concurrently with MUEN 1140 or MUEN 2140 or by approval of the professor.
