Short narrative forms from the beginning of the 20th century to the present: Mann, Kafka, Brecht, B ll, Seghers, Bachmann, Wolf and others. Includes consideration of two post-war German literatures (the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic). Prerequisite: C- or better in GERM 3311 or permission of instructor.
