This foundation course acquaints students with current computer terminology and concepts associated with computer hardware and software. Students are given hands-on experience with Microsoft Office applications-Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access. Concentration is on Excel and Access. The Internet is used as a research and communication tool. Class/Lab hrs. 4. It is strongly recommended that students with minimal computer experience take OFTEC 110 Keyboarding/Information Processing before this course.

This is an introduction to programming design, logic and fundamental problem solving. Emphasis is on object oriented and event driven programming. Students use looping, if-then, case structures, arrays, built-in functions, user defined functions, database connectivity with ADO, and GUI techniques as well as the design and use of classes including class methods and attributes. Focus is on designing object-oriented business programs that have a graphical user interface. Class/Lab hrs. 4. Pre- or Corequisite: DP 103 Computer Information Systems.

This course teaches the principles of programming including the constructive use of control structures, primitive data types, functions, formats and the program development process using event driven programming and object-oriented programming of Visual Basic. Emphasis is on the object-oriented approach to application development, rapid application development within a graphical environment and the logical approach to offering business solutions. Class/Lab hrs. 4. Prerequisite: DP 108A Object Oriented Programming Logic.

This course explains the hardware components found in every computer system. Students learn the technical skills to diagnose standard computer problems through discussion, group projects and hands-on labs. Focus is be placed on the troubleshooting techniques necessary to succeed in a computer support position. This course prepares students for the A+ Core Hardware Certification exam. Class/Lab hrs. 4. Pre- or Corequisite: DP 103 Computer Information Systems. Offered every semester.

Co-op courses are designed to promote career awareness through cooperative work experience in a specific field. Students integrate classroom theory with a monitored and supervised work experience. Periodic meetings with faculty advisor and written assignments are required. 225 work hours required. Prerequisite: Approval of Curriculum Chair; GPA of 2.5 or higher; 9 earned credits in curriculum-required courses and 3 credits in ENG 101 Comp & Lit I or equivalent for total of 12 credits; and a major declared in this specific curriculum. For DP 131, DP 130 is required.

The fundamentals of programming that support a multi-tiered, client/server, database-driven, e- Business and e-Commerce web site. Technologies that are discussed and applied include xHTML, Dynamic HTML, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), XML, XSL, VBScript, Active Server Pages (ASP), shopping carts, auction sites and security. Class/Lab hrs. 4. Pre- or Corequisite: DP 235B Networking for Business.

An overview of management information systems is presented; including IS managerial concepts and information system support of functional areas of business. Concepts include alignment of information systems strategy with organizational strategy, MIS components and organizational structures, issues in the design and implementation of systems, and understanding the role of information systems in organizations. Emphasis is placed on the solution of real world problems faced by managerial end users through the use of advanced spreadsheet design and analysis. Class/Lab hrs. 4. Prerequisite: DP 103 Computer Information Systems.

This course is designed to guide the student through the evolution of a system, an analysis of the present flow of information and the specifications, selection, and implementation of information processing systems. It concentrates on methods, techniques and tools used to determine information requirements and the documentation of these requirements in a thorough and unambiguous form. Traditional systems analysis components are applied to e-Commerce sites. The course uses both DFD and UML to graphically represent systems using a software diagramming package. Class/Lab hrs. 4. Prerequisite: DP 235B Networking for Business.
