This course is designed to first review the basic physiology of three important bodily systems: muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory, and then to apply these concepts to the special situation of exercise stress both in a lecture and laboratory context. Weekly laboratory exercises will include investigation of maximal oxygen consumption, lactate and ventilatory threshold, parameters of muscular strength and EKG stress testing, among others.
