Prerequisite: VNSG 1304, 1227, 1420, 1323, 1502, 1260 Co-requisite: VNSG 2160 Fees: Laboratory Continuation of Medical Surgical Nursing with the study of nursing intervention through application of the nursing process for clients with medical surgical disorders related to the following systems: Cardiovascular, Respiratory, and Immune. Also included is an overview of patients with cancer, their treatment, and their care. The course will include anatomy and physiology review, medical and surgical treatment and the related nursing interventions, as well as the psychological approach in caring for these clients.

Emphasis is on the bio-psycho-socio-cultural needs of the family during the phases of pregnancy, childbirth, and the neonatal period including abnormal conditions.

VNSG 1334 Pediatrics Prerequisites: VNSG 1420, 1304, 1133, 1116, 1227, 1331, 1323, 1160, 2331, 1161 Co-Requisite: VNSG 2161 Pediatric Nursing Clinical The focus of VNSG 1334 Pediatric Nursing is on care of the well child and the child with acute/chronic illnesses and/or conditions. The course provides instruction towards mastery of entry-level skills and competencies for the pediatric client in a variety of health care settings. The nursing process is the foundation for all nursing care.

Emphasis is placed on understanding the role and function of regulatory agencies that govern the education and practice of licensed vocational nursing and the role of the LVN in professional organizations, continuing education, and license renewal.
