A study of different welding and related methods of joining materials. Laboratory experience includes such processes as laser beam, ultrasonic spot, atomic hydrogen, electric resistance spot, arc air gouging, and submerged arc welding. Mechanical testing and metallography of completed welds is included. Class 2. Lab 3. Prerequisites: MJET 2021 and MJET 2022. (Fall)

Basic study of microstructural changes associated with welding thermal cycles; non-equilibrium solidification and heat-affected zone transformation phenomena; microstructure/property relationships, weld discontinuity formation, and weldability testing. Class 3. Prerequisite: ENGR 2313. (Spring)

Conventional and modern methods of joint design and flaw assessment for static, dynamic, and cyclic loading. Effects and control of residual stresses and distortion. Principles of failure diagnosis, use of numerical methods, quality and reliability concepts, codes and standards, cost estimation and process selection. Class 3. Prerequisite: ENGR 2313. Corequisite: MEGR 3323 or METC 3323. (Spring)

A study of 14 different welding and related methods of joining metals. Laboratory experience includes such processes as oxy-fuel gas, gas metal arc, flux cored arc, and gas tungsten arc welding. Class 3. Lab 3. Prerequisites: MJET 2021 and MJET 2022. (Spring, Odd years)

Application of welding metallurgy principles to fusion welding ferrous and non-ferrous engineering alloys. Specific alloys discussed include carbon, low alloy, HSLA, stainless steels, tool and die steels, aluminum, nickel-based, and titanium alloys. Laboratory includes weldability testing, metallographic sample preparation and evaluation techniques. Class 3. Lab 3. Prerequisites: ENGR 2313, MJET 2021, and MJET 2022. (Fall)

Study and performance of instrumental jazz literature and jazz improvisatory styles. Membership is open to all interested students who have previous instrumental training and experience in high school band programs. Instruments not provided. May be repeated for credit.

Study and performance of varied choral repertoire. The mixed-voice group represents LeTourneau University with numerous local concerts and a spring break tour to locations throughout the United States. Membership is by audition. A small scholarship is attached to membership. May be repeated for credit.

An introduction to the art of thinking with an analysis of philosophical principles and problems, a brief survey of the history of philosophy, and a review of the contributions of outstanding philosophers. Class 3.
