A study of the fundamentals of elementary inorganic and organic chemistry. A study is made of a select group of elements and compounds and the chemical laws and principles that govern elementary chemistry. A correlation between Chemistry and other related sciences is made with emphasis placed upon the scientific method of problem solving. Prerequisite: CHEM 1408 or 1412. A basic introductory course in Organic Chemistry for science, pre-med, and related fields of study. The molecular orbital theory and stereochemistry are used in the understanding of the structures and reactions of Aliphatic and Aromatic Compounds. Mechanisms of reactions are considered in terms of the free radical, the carbonium ion, and the carbanion. Lab Fee: $20.00
