Students study rhetorical modes for academic English writing situations and respond to readings. FORS 2440. The Crime Scene Evidence Gathering & Analysis. ( 3-2-4). Provides an introduction to crime scene investigation, evidence gathering and preservation, analysis including the use of scientific instrumentation and the functions of a forensic laboratory. Labs include analysis of hair and fiber, stain, epithelial cell, latent fingerprint, DNA sequencing, other techniques of analysis used to obtain evidence and the functions of a forensic lab. Methods of instruction focus on hands-on experience and may include guest speakers, use of local documented cases, and videos. No prerequisites other than those stated in the AS Forensic degree requirements. FORS 2450. Advanced Forensic Psychology. ( 3-2-4). Integrates knowledge gained from FORS 2440 into practical application. The course focuses on facilitating the identification of perpetrators and the role of forensics in prosecution based on an analysis of patterns of behavior with emphasis on physiological determinants, neuropsychology, psychopathology, and sociopathology. Methods of instruction include lecture, analysis of documented cases, guest speakers, group activities, videos, crime scene analysis, and analysis of court proceedings related to presentation of forensic testimony.
